On the elasticity of an inertial liquid shock

Web21 de jan. de 2015 · The early time spreading of liquid-solid contact is controlled by the capillary driving force and the inertia of the liquid. The cushioned air film geometry, i.e., a flat micrometer-thin gap, induces an increase of the spreading velocity; the contact area first spreads over the cushioned region, only then followed by radial spreading. WebThe Froude number ( Fr) is the ratio of the inertial forces to the gravitational forces. The Froude number is the non-dimensional factor governing resistance due to surface wave formation (among other things). Named after William Froude, a 19th century English scientist who was one of the first to use a towing tank.
